Chill Candle

In the event your order is received damaged upon delivery, please send an email with attached photos to AuraByPortia@gmail.com within 5 days of receipt. A replacement of the same design will be sent to you free of charge. 

You may, however, request the item cost be refunded to you -- refunds will only be accepted if the item is received damaged and reported within 5 days of receipt.  A partial refund of up to 40% may be issued if the damage does not impact function.

In the event you receive an item different from what you ordered, you will be eligible for an exchange free of charge -- please keep all original packaging material and email AuraByPortia@gmail.com with your order number and photos attached.  We will send you a return shipping label and send you the correct item within 5 days of exchanged product receipt.

Please expect a processing time of 2-7 days prior to shipment as items are made to order.

1. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Properly extinguish the flame before exiting the room
2. Always keep lit candles in sight and out of reach of children, pets and flammable materials.
3. To prevent tunneling, ensure the first light is allowed to burn for at least 2 hours or until the melt pool reaches the edges of the vessel.
4. Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
5. The vessel will be hot when your candle is lit so be sure to burn on a heat resistant surface and never move or touch a burning candle.
7. Do not use candles near electrical items or near a heat source.
8. Remove large, dehydrated fruits and flowers before lighting your candle. Remove the crystal once the melt pool reaches it. Remove the remaining enhancers when close to finishing the candle and/or if remains attached to the side of the vessel to avoid catching on fire. 
9. Discontinue use when 1/4 inch of wax remains in the vessel.
10. Never extinguish your candle with water.
11. Never leave your candle burning overnight.
12. To maximize the longevity of your candle, always keep out of direct sunlight and high temperatures. Store in a cool, dry place.
13. Always trim wicks to 1/4 inch before every burn to remove burnt wood from the top of the wick and avoid smoking. You may use a wick trimmer or simply pinch the wood off using your fingers.

14. If your candle begins to flicker or smoke, extinguish the flame, let it cool, trim the wood wick and relight.
15. Use the base provided as a lid to protect your candle from dust and debris after you have extinguished the flame and your candle has cooled.

16. Once your candle is burned to less than 1/4 inch full, pour a small amount of almost boiling water into the vessel, swirl a bit and let cool. Remove the wax from the top and wick(s)/ crystals/ botanicals then wipe out with a cloth or paper towel. Wash with soap and water or wipe with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual wax or soot residue and use your vessel as a planter or another use

1. Once your candle is burned to less than 1/4 inch full, pour a small amount of almost boiling water into the vessel, swirl a bit and let cool.
2. Remove the wax from the top and wick(s)/ crystals/ botanicals then wipe out with a cloth or paper towel.
3. Wash with soap and water or wipe with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to remove any residual wax or soot residue and repurpose your vessel

While we understand the importance of drainage for your plant babies, Aura by Portia planters do not have drainage holes.  Instead, they are fully sealed with environmentally safe concrete sealers to ensure no unexpected seepage under your planter that can potentially ruin surfaces.  Our planters are thoughtfully designed as "set in" planters -- all you have to do is:

1. Sit the nursery pot with drainage holes in our planter
2. When it's time to give your plants the occasional soak, you can take our planter to the sink, remove the plastic nursery pot, flush with water, allow to drain from the drainage hole and replace the nursery pot back in your sealed planter. 

This method also provides the following benefits:

1. Prevents under-watering and over-watering your plant babies
2. Prevents root rot as there will be adequate airflow
3. Prevents messy overflow that can ruin surfaces
4. Provides flexibility to easily change up your décor and switch designs

If you prefer to plant directly into your Aura by Portia planter, that's still an option by adding drainage and activated charcoal under your potting soil! The larger medium used to create a drainage layer has comparatively a lot more space between them, which allows water to pass through quickly. Activated charcoal has natural microbial properties and can help deter fungal and bacterial diseases.

MATERIALS

1. Washed large landscape medium such as pebbles, stones or pumice
2. Horticultural activated charcoal
3. All-Purpose or Moisture Control Potting Soil
4. Your succulent or house plant!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Simply add a drainage layer at the bottom of our planter with the pebbles, stones or pumice
2. Cover the pebbles with a thin layer of activated charcoal
3. Remove your succulent/ plant from its original pot and gently massage the root ball to provide some extra breathing room
4. Add soil to the level you'd like your root ball to sit
5. Hold your succulent/ plant where you'd like it in your Aura by Portia planter and fill the rest of your planter with soil until you've reached just below the top
6. Gently pat down the soil to ensure your succulent/ plant is secure and stable - add more soil where needed
7. Be sure to water slowly, sparingly and evenly with 1/4 to 1/3 of your planter volume
8. Think you over-watered? Hold the soil back with your hand, and gently tip your pot to the side (or even invert it, if possible) to allow the excess water to pour out.  You can replace any lost soil if necessary.
